To all the dads out there, I want to wish you a happy Father’s Day! We pray that God equips and strengthens you as you raise the children He has entrusted to you. I’m so thankful for David and the dad he is to our five children!
Father’s Day can be hard for me. Even at almost thirty, I can feel the sting of not having a dad. In some ways it can be harder than when I was young, because now we have social media, and it is (rightly) flooded with pictures, stories, and memories of dads.
But God has brought several verses to mind in the last few days.
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! ~ I John 3:1
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling. ~ Psalm 68:5
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba,” Father.” Romans 8:15
Maybe you are like me and don’t have someone here on earth to celebrate. But if we spend time marveling at the wonder of the righteous, holy, God of the universe adopting us as His own, how can it help being a great Father’s Day?
