From our archived blog:
After a long twelve hours of driving, split over two days, we made it to Orlando, Florida, Saturday afternoon for the beginning of our Equip training.
Fresh out of the car! Glad to be here, but exhausted. We hit the ground running, unloading our luggage into our apartment, and heading straight to our first meeting. The pace has not slowed down much since then, so please forgive us for the lack of updates!
We have been learning even more about who Wycliffe is, and their overwhelming passion for Bibleless peoples. It's been a privileged to get to know not only our teachers, but our fellow classmates. One of my favorite activities so far has been the chance we had to each share our testimonies and journeys into Wycliffe. None of our stories look the same, but the evidence of God's hand directing our steps is wonderful! We are a mix of IT, aviation, administration, linguists, arts, and language surveyors. All different parts of the body of Christ, with gifts and talents God has given us that can help bring people His Word.
Another great blessing has been to have teachers who served for many years in PNG, fellow classmates who served there for many years, and another couple and a single woman who are heading to PNG soon too. Our potential future neighbors and co-laborers!
The kids are having a great time, too. Even Nehemiah has had a great time playing with Isaiah, the two other little boys in their class, and their three teachers. The girls have school every day with one other classmate, and three wonderful teachers, where they do their regular schoolwork. They also get to learn about what it means to be a MK (missionary kid), Bibleless people groups, Papua New Guinea, and the work of Wycliffe.
We look forward to sharing more with you soon, but for now we wanted to thank all of you again for your partnership with us! So many of you have prayed for us, given to take care of our Equip tuition costs, and encouraged us along the way. I hope that you understand that everything we are able to learn and do through our time here, you have an essential part in!
